Thessaloniki International Summer Media Academy 2025 will take place from the 4th to the 13th of July 2025 at the MOMus–Thessaloniki Museum of Photography, located in the historic building of the old municipal slaughterhouse, in the heart of the city’s port area.

Built in 1896–97, the former municipal slaughterhouse operated until 1988, with a short interruption from 1978 to 1980 due to earthquake-related restoration. In 1994, the building was officially declared an architectural monument, as it exemplifies the industrial architecture of the late 19th and early 20th century. Positioned within Thessaloniki’s industrial and commercial hub, it once symbolized the city’s transition into a new era of economic modernization.

Today, the refurbished building houses the MOMus–Thessaloniki Museum of Photography, one of Greece’s foremost institutions dedicated to photography and visual culture. MOMus engages in the promotion of contemporary photography, the preservation of photographic heritage, and the organization of exhibitions, workshops, and educational programs that aim to foster dialogue between art, media, and society.

Its unique setting, historical significance, and cultural mission make MOMus an ideal location for the Thisam 2025, as it reflects both the rich past and the dynamic present of Thessaloniki’s media and creative landscape.
